Dr. Riner is a great vet, however, I will never bring either of my horses to him again. When I called to make an appointment with him I had to speak to two different people to get an appointment. I really needed a Monday or Friday and had 4 different dates that I was available and off work in the Month of August. I was told that he doesn't do calls on those days and I would have to drive to them (an hour away). That would mean I had to take a day off work and have an appointment over a month away. When a friend of mine that has used the facility before informed me that he would come out and to call back for a sooner appointment I spoke to someone different and explained to her the situation and was able to get an appointment within less than 2 weeks. I asked how much it would cost and was told $250. I was also told at the appointment that meds were about $20 a tube. When I got my bill I was charge $40 a tube and had an extra $46 for the call added on. When I called to inquire about the charges and explain that it was much higher than I was told I was completely dismissed. I explained that if this is the way the clerical side of the practice is going to operate that I would no longer use Dr. Riner and it was a shame since he is a good vet. She just told me that she's sorry I feel that way. A little bit after hanging up she called back to say that she checked with the assistant that came out to the call and was told I was quoted less than charged. She did say that she would refund me $30. As great as that is, it still doesn't add up to the difference that I was quoted or even come close to what I was charged. I am very disappointed in how the office is quoting and then billing. Vet bills are expensive enough when you do know the bill, but even worse when there are charges that you didn't know were coming even though the charge was asked prior to service. I was for warned that this happens and clients have to watch their bills from multiple people, but was really hoping that if this had happened to people in the past that it was cleared up and wouldn't happen now. I was wrong.
